Mahalo 5K Review 2007
By Louis Tomsic The 1st annual Mahalo 5K was run on Sunday morning at 7A on August 12, 2007in Manoa Valley. This race course started at the Manoa Recreation Center and did the usual loop around the valley finishing in the lower parking lot. The race profits benifited Tesh Teshima. Tesh Teshima has been taking local Hawaii athletes pictures since the 90's and sending them free in the mail. This was a race to say "Mahalo" for capturing all the memories for us that would have been missed if it had not been for Tesh to be there with his camera. Connie Comiso was the race director. She has been on of the best female running athletes for 3 decades. The awards and random prize giveaway were memorial because of the Hooters girls that took photos with all the winning athletes. Everyone was happy to have thier photos taken with the Hooters girls especially all the guys. Refreshments at the race included energy bars, bananas sherbert, coffee, Gatorade and water. More random prizes were given away then people at the race. Random prizes included gift certificates to Rainbows football games, picture frames, 10% of at Down to Earth and various resturants prizes. I heard a lot of runners say that this was one of the best races to participate on Oahu.
