The Niketown 30K was run at 5A on October 7, 2007. It was a cool morning during the race and ideal for running the long 18.6 miles before the Honolulu Marathon. The race course follows the marathon course all the way out to Hawaii Kai turning around just before the right hand turn to do the Hawaii Kai loop. After the turn around it is the exact last 15K of the Honolulu Marathon course. This race usually reminds me that I need to either put more vaciline on my feet or control my pace in the start of the race. Chris Larson told me that he needed to eat alittle more before the start of the race. Each person who runs this race gets the benifit of remebering how to do it right during the Honolulu Marathon.
Afterwards for refreshments, the Mid Pacific Road Runners Club had Gatoraid, bannnas and oranges. They also had sodas and fruit drinks. John Simmonds gave me a couple of Mountain Dews which made my day. The awards gave out medals in 5 year age divisions. I had fun chatting and catching up with everyone after the run.
