Training Tips

Mitch "the Stinger" Novy racing into the finish.

Both the Brooks T3 Racers and Brooks T4 Racers are excellent racing flats for any age. I've seen many older folk, younger kids, and elites run in both models and say their feet feel as light as a feather while racing.
Something very important to understand about both models is that it might be a good idea to avoid anything too much over the half marathon distance in them. They do have the tendency to rip your feet up quite a bit during the adventure into the full marathon distance.
Both the T3 and T4 Racers use the Brooks Hydroflow technology as their cushioning system in the back part of the shoe.
The T4 Racers come with a side roll bar that offers extra support to the arch of the foot while landing onto the ground.

PERSONAL STORY:
I remember just finishing a 12K up in Fort Wayne, Indiana two summers ago while racing in the T3 Racers. After the race, I ran a 4-mile cool down in my T3 Racers not thinking anything of it. Since my heel to toe strike is completely different (as is everyones) to what my race pace heel to toe strike was, I ended up getting a couple blisters on the lower arch of my foot. I recommend that after racing in either the T3s or T4s, to remember to throw on the ol trainers in order to avoid blister problems. Plus, after a race your body is already starting to recover from the workout. Your feet need to be both properly cushioned and supported during the cool down.
